Percussion Ensemble (MUS 381) is a credited course (1 credit hour) and requires permission from the instructor. E-mail Dr. Haskett at blhasket@svsu.edu to ask about joining the ensemble.

 

Students must be able to read pitched and non-pitched music at a high level in order to receive permission to join the group. The ensemble is typically around 8-10 members and a high degree of self-discipline and motivation is needed to succeed in the group.

 

We play literature of a variety of levels including pieces that require students to play four-mallet keyboard parts. Additionally, we stretch the boundaries of traditional percussion literature and try to include a wide variety of pieces with unusual instruments.
